Major Duties for Lyndon B Johnson National Historical Park The employee will serve as a front line interpreter, reporting directly to Deputy Program Manager of Interpretation, Education and Community Engagement at Lyndon B Johnson National Historical Park. Lyndon B Johnson NHP is comprised of two sites which include the Boyhood Home and Settlement in Johnson City and the Birthplace, School House and Texas White House Complex at the Ranch. The employee will lead the park's education and community engagement efforts off and onsite. Main duties include staffing the Visitor Center information desk, providing visitors with access to the free America the Beautiful passes, and presenting formal and informal tours to diverse audiences about the Johnson family and the life, including the full circle birth, life and death of the President. In addition, the employee will assist in providing education and outreach programs, as needed. The employee will stand for long periods of time and will work with large crowds of visitors in potentially stressful situations. Major Duties for Waco Mammoth National Monument The employee will serve as the front line lead ranger at Waco Mammoth National Monument, reporting directly to Program Manager of Interpretation, Education and Community Engagement of Waco Mammoth National Monument. Waco Mammoth National Monument sits within 100 acres of wooded parkland along the Bosque River. Surrounded by oak, mesquite and cedar trees, the site offers an escape from the modern world and provides a glimpse into the lives and habitat of Columbian mammoths and other Ice Age animals. The site is co-operated through a unique partnership model with the City of Waco. Additionally, the park is administered by Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park in Johnson City, TX. The employee will work directly with the park's Paleontologist to lead the park's interpretive programs, operations, education and community engagement efforts off and onsite, all while collaborating with the City of Waco. When needed, the employee will staff the Visitor Center information desk, present formal and informal tours to diverse audiences. In addition, the employee will supervisor seasonal employees, and train Park Guides on how to research, plan, develop and evaluate interpretive programs, primarily about Waco Mammoth National Monument. The employee will stand for long periods of time and will work with large crowds of visitors in potentially stressful situations. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. WRITTEN TEST. The Park Ranger (I), GL-0025-07 requires a written test under the Administrative Careers with America (ACWA). Shortly after the vacancy announcement closes, candidates found to meet the specialized experience may be notified via e-mail with procedures for taking an on-line test. If you fail to timely complete the written test (as instructed) or do not pass the test, you will be found not qualified for this position. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/29/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40
hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. EXPERIENCE GS-07:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
park guide or tour leader; environmental educator or teacher; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area; management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and/or implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; or other similar work. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-5 grade level in the federal service. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate study in one of the following fields:
natural resource management, natural sciences, marine biology/sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, wetlands ecology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. (One year of graduate education is 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours).You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take one-half year (9 semester hours or 14 quarter hours) of directly-related graduate level college study in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. EXPERIENCE GS-09:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:

(Two years of graduate education is 36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours). You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of directly-related graduate level college study in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
