Summary:

This position is responsible for providing financial and accounting leadership to ensure that the Cooperative achieves its strategic and financial goals. Overall responsibility for general ledger accounting, revenue accounting, plant accounting, budget, financial analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax and compliance reporting functions.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of the day-to-day finance activities
  • Maintain accurate and complete books and records
  • Direct activities of the finance teams reporting to the Controller
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of financial statements
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting requirements including but not limited to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Accounting
  • Confirm the accuracy of federal, state, and local tax and regulatory filings
  • Direct and coordinate the annual audit and budget processes
  • Develop and manage departmental budget
  • Manage the establishment, implementation and maintenance of financial policies, practices, procedures, controls and accounting principles to ensure appropriate separation of duties and checks and balances
  • Prepare and conduct presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Initiate, assist, and implement Cooperative policy development as a member of the Senior Management team
  • Execute and implement Cooperative wide initiatives
  • Support the reporting needs of the Cooperative
  • Lead and manage internal initiatives of the Finance department
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for termination

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, processing information, or Microsoft Applications such as Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and budgeting
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Accounting, financial statements, and policies of the Cooperative
  • Strong knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Highly skilled in anticipating, identifying, analyzing and resolving conflict and problems
  • Highly skilled in time management and managing changing priorities
  • Advanced level of verbal and written communication skills and providing updates to Management
  • Highly self-motivated and driven for results
  • Great team player prepared to help and lead others to achieve department goals
  • Ability to develop and mentor Staff

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):

  • Bachelor s degree in related field
  • Master s Degree in related field preferred
  • Ten years of related work experience, including five years supervisor and/or managerial experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA
  • Electric utility industry experience preferred

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
